Welcome to Cape Town Golf Performance Studios, based at the Metropolitan Golf Club in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa. Whether you are a beginner looking to start the game or a low-handicapper trying to fine-tune their swing, our facilities are designed to help improve your game and our expert team is here to make you feel at home and enjoy your golf. We are open to both members and visitors. We offer the following services:

Swing

We have two Swing Studios – each offering the golfer something different. Both are fitted with a FlightScope Launch Monitor, providing us with state-of-the-art technology and accurate ball flight data to help us find the right solution for your golf.

Swing Studio # 1 is focused on lessons and improving your swing while Swing Studio # 2 features an FS Golf Simulator which is geared towards club fitting and finding the ideal equipment for your game.

Club fitting

Our club fitting service is overseen by a fully qualified PGA Professional and that means we look at your game holistically before recommending specific equipment for you. What does that mean?

For example, in the club fitting session we may find a fundamental swing flaw that is causing a certain shot pattern. While choosing a club with a specific shaft, weight and lie-angle may help your game, your improvement will be significantly improved by fixing that swing flaw and we may first recommend several lessons before settling on the right clubs. Our team’s objective is not to sell you golf equipment – our goal is to help you improve and enjoy your golf.

Using the FlightScope launch monitor, we can recommend the equipment that is going to improve your accuracy, consistency and distance. It really does take the guess work out of purchasing new equipment, giving you the confidence and peace of mind you are walking away with the right product for you.

We all know how intimidating and difficult this game can be. However, it is also one of the most rewarding sports around and our PGA teaching professionals are here to help you enjoy your golf.

There is a range of different packages for all golfers: Beginners, Juniors, Ladies, Professionals – whether you prefer group sessions, one-on-one tuition or on-course playing lessons, our professionals have the expertise, technology and demeanour to ensure you have a great experience.

Lessons are headed up by Tijana Kraljevic and Benjamin Zeelie, two of the top young teaching professionals in the EOGA (Etienne Olivier Golf Academy) team. Get in touch to find out more about how we can help your golf.

Game Simulation

Game Simulation is another great way to use our Studio #2. We have a choice of courses to play with your friends socially, or work on your own on things like course management, Par 3 strategy and scoring efficiently. With 18 holes manageable in 1 hour on your own, its a great way to get a round in if you are pushed for time or a “fair-weather golfer” looking to escape the wet Cape winter days!

Before entering the swing studios, you’ll be greeted by our friendly pro shop team. Here you will find a modern golf shop, stocked with leading brand golf apparel, equipment and accessories. Visitors to the club have a wide choice of product featuring both the club and Cape Town logos – ideal gifts and memorabilia to take back home. Golfers on the day will check in and pay their green fees in the shop. Golf carts, trolleys and rental clubs from Callaway, Taylormade and XXIO are all available.

Ultimately you have to take your game onto the course and golfers can walk straight from the pro shop or Swing Studios onto the beautifully conditioned Metropolitan Golf Course.

Widely regarded as having some of the best greens in the country, the course is both challenging for accomplished players and enjoyably playable for the higher-handicap. Less than 10 minutes from the CBD and nestled in the middle of the Atlantic Seaboard, we are conveniently located and probably the most wind-free layout in the Western Cape when the famous South-Easter blows.

Brad has worked in the golf industry for over 25 years and occupied Director of Golf positions at The Gary Player Country Club at Sun City and the Jack Nicklaus designed Pecanwood Golf and Country Club in Johannesburg. These days, his time is split between overseeing the operation at the Metropolitan Golf Club and working on his other business, Interlock Events – a specialist golf event management company based at The Bryanston Country Club in Johannesburg.

Passions: Family, friends, Baxter our bulldog, Liverpool Football Club, Metropolitan Golf Club, good wine and food, my businesses and everything about the game of golf! Well just about everything,…..

De Waal Botha

De Waal started in the golf industry at De Zalze Golf Estate in Stellenbosch where he oversaw the retail operation before moving to The Met. As the Head Golf Professional, De Waal runs the pro shop and swing studios while also working closely with club management on the golf operation as a whole. For any golf equipment and club fitting requirements – De Waal is your “GO TO”!

Passions: De Waal is a Boland Boy and still lives in Paarl – commuting every day on his beloved BMW motorcycle. The only thing De Waal loves more than his wife and two Scottish Terriers is Liverpool Football Club so any meeting with Brad is mostly spent talking about the Reds! #YNWA

Léneeshia van Schoor

Pro Shop Administrator – Metropolitan Golf Club

Originally hailing from the charming town of Paarl and having graduated with a diploma in Sport Management and an Advanced Diploma in Sport & Leisure Management, Léneeshia’s passion for sports has brought her into the Mother City, and luckily for us, onto our team.

Whether you’re popping us an email or giving us a call, chances are that she’ll be the helping hand on our end. Though often behind the scenes, Léneeshia’s integral work keeps the pro shop on track and the team in line for a better overall experience.

Jo-Wade Fortuin

Advanced Diploma in Sport Management & Marketing

Jo started out in the golf industry six years ago at Pearl Valley before joining the GPS team. Since then his experience and Advanced Diploma in Sport Management & Marketing has helped prove himself to be an invaluable member of the team.

Jo, too, was born and raised in Paarl but don’t let his tough persona fool you; he is a people’s person through and through, and you’ll often find him chatting and laughing with members and visitors. Now Head of Hardware, he is your go-to guy if you need anything club-related.

Passions: Golf, Rugby, and most of all, his daughter, Malaya.

Keanan Clarke

Pro Shop Assistant – Metropolitan Golf Club

With a background in sports apparel and retail, Keanan began at Under Armour where he worked his way up to Floor-Supervisor before entering into the golf retail industry here at Cape Town Golf Performance Studios. Being a sportsman himself, whether on the football field as a holding-midfielder or on the golf course as an improving new-comer to the game of golf, Keanan has the experience and first-hand knowledge about what you need to perform at your best.

His witty sense of humour and love for Liverpool FC makes him an entertaining chat with customers. So, if you hear people having a laugh, Keanan is probably close by.

Assistant Professional | Marketing & Communications

Currently completing his PGA Associateship, John has been part of the team for two years first handling the marketing and communication side of things but now adding retail and fitting skills to his resumé courtesy of his PGA Diploma. Wherever you find him, be it behind the counter, behind his laptop or down in the simulator advising on fittings, you can expect a warm greeting and friendly service. Having grown up playing golf, John is always keen for a game so if you just need some company or a fourth player, he can meet you on the 1st tee.
